Do You Twitter?

10/24/2008

What do MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Digg, Twitter, LinkedIn and Eventful all have in common? They are the hottest new ways to expand your business using the web! The best part about these sites is they are 100% free to use.

On MySpace and Facebook you can create a pofile for your company and other businesses can be your “friends.” YouTube & Flickr allowyou to post videos on-line for all the world to see – maybe you could tape a video about a product with case history? Most of the websites are used by people other than businesses but LinkedIn is a more traditional business to business type of network.

And then there was Twitter… a totally cool new concept! Picture this: you create a log in at www.twitter.com and all the sudden your staring a simple web page that asks one simple question over and over again “What are you doing?” and you have a little box to type your reply into. Basically, depending on how clever your answers are, you can create a following of people to twitter with. Newsweek recently said “It seems like all the worlds a-twitter!” You really should check it out when you have a chance – it’s totally free to sign up and very user friendly.

You may be asking yourself how this will help my business? There are three compelling reasons I can think of and it you have more please post a comment below!

  • It’s a totally free way to market your company on a wold wide level – how cool would it be to build a relationship with a company in South Africa?
  • It’s not just teenagers who are using Facebook, MySpace and Twitter… there are real life companies who use these sites. Just check it out, what have you got to loose?
  • Technology is the trend- Jump on the bandwagon now!

If your company uses any of these sites, please post a comment below to let us know about your experience. Posting comments is an important part of CAPPAChat and we want to hear what you have to say!

All great points. There’s definitely some search engine optimization benefits to using some of this as well.

I’d also recommend checking out making a Squidoo lens (www.squidoo.com) for some important terms for your business.

All of these new technologies can both directly and indirectly impact your business’s visibility.
