Fast Track To Leadership – Day 2

06/19/2009

WOW- i’m not even sure where to start…From our keynote speaker this morning to the District 4 dinner tonight, it’s been an amazing day!

The conference kicked off with opening marks from Michele Packard-Milam and a keynote by John Paul from AssociationWORKS. He was funny and his message about becoming an association leader of choice was right on target. The reason that we attend these conferences are to learn about ways that CAPPA can provide more value to YOU!

After the keynote we all split up and attended different breakout sessions ranging from trade shows to association money management. Every class was interactive, informative and the speakers were top notch!

After a long day in class, PPAI hosted a dinner for District 4. Little did we know, there was a twist! Half way through dinner we were given a plastic box, crafts and instructions. In keeping with the theme of our conference, we had fifteen minutes to use the materials and create a train car. Our goal was that our train had to tie in all of the regional associations in our district.  This was a team building exercise but of course we had fun and thanks to PPAS for the idea (Shiner- TX, Coors- CO & Budweiser-KS)! Brewing up ideas together is what this is all about!

Tomorrow will include more breakout sessions, a legislative review and finally the closing ceremony – i’ll keep you posted and let you know if our train wins an award ;)!
Finally, thank you for allowing us to represent CAPPA!
